Communication
is one of the most important elements between a parent and child.
When we communicate, we not only share information, but we can
share our time, and we can share ourselves to foster closer and
stronger relationships. Reading together is one of the most cherished
ways that an adult and child can communicate with each other.
Through reading, a parent and child can begin to cultivate a lifelong
relationship enhanced by their shared experiences through literature.
Murphy
Dog at the Circus, the second book in a series by Christian
Sidle, is a book that can be shared and cherished by adults and
children alike. This book, like Murphy Dog Bedtime Story
before it, communicates a strong, positive message that to believe
in oneself is a powerful tool for achieving and being the best
one can be. The Murphy Dog books share this message in
creative and interesting ways that teach children that reading
and believing are values to behold.
Christian
Sidle has once again offered up a story of fun and dreams that
will forever be a pleasure and joy to read. Dianne Lynn's original
watercolors lift the story off the page and into the expanses
of the imagination. Mr. Sidle's playful prose, with the beautiful
artwork and elegant book design communicates the valuable message
that reading, especially the Murphy Dog series, is a delight
to be treasured by all generations.
Happy reading.

About
the Author -
Top
Christian Sidle lives in upstate New York.
He has worked in various aspects of education and youth programming
for the last decade.
Christian says that discipline coupled with kindness is the most
effective formula for success when teaching children of all ages.
He often tells his students that learning is both a "quiet
thing" and an interactive process. He believes that adults
help children the most when they teach the necessary skills while
being aware of the world perspective of each child.
Murphy Dog became a book character to give children an interesting
and fun way to improve their reading. Christian recommends that
these books be read aloud as much as possible. Murphy Dog Bedtime
Story is the first book in the series. Christian is currently
writing more Murphy Dog books, as well as completing two novels.

Reading

by all generations. - Emily Silver, Ithaca College

In
the book Murphy Dog at the Circus I like how the words
rhyme. It takes you through every step from the car ride to
seeing popcorn, cotton candy, burgers and fries topped with
cheese, games and small painted faces to seeing the show and
then the car ride home. It takes you through each step of Murphy's
adventure. Murphy Dog is a positive influence for everyone,
it's simple; he is okay with who he is and where he is. The
story is very detailed and fun to read. - Justin Westfall, 5th
grader, Ithaca, NY

Very
imaginative --- I like the way Murphy Dog seems like a real
person when he is really a dog. I also like the dictionary and
how the story rhymes. Murphy Dog is the best character ever.
- Eryn MacNeil, 3rd grader, New Philadelphia, OH
